Welcome to HAM Depart & Arrive Security Check

Security Check

Sicherheitskontrolle by Oliver Sorg

Hamburg Airport has a central security control for both terminals, which is located between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 on level 1 of the plaza. You must go through security to get to the departure gates. Here, we give you tips on how to get through the security check quickly and stress-free.

Current Corona Safety Measures:

FFP2 mask obligation:
Please note that all passengers and visitors at Hamburg Airport are required to wear an FFP2 mask.

3G regulation for domestic German flights:
For domestic German flights, all passengers must carry a valid proof of vaccination, a proof of recovery or a negative test proof (e.g. antigen test, max. 24h old) and show it upon request. Airlines are required to randomly check these proofs.

Keep your distance:
Please keep at least 1.5 m distance to other people.

Wash your hands:
Please wash your hands regularly and use disinfectants.

How to get through the security check quickly:

  1. Keep your plane ticket and important documents at hand
Your boarding pass and important ID or medication documents for prescription medication that you need to carry in your hand luggage must be available at any time during the inspection.
  2. Pay attention to the prescribed luggage dimension
The hand luggage dimensions vary depending on the airline. Please inform yourself in good time about the permitted dimensions.
  3. Pay attention to the permissible fluid regulations
Liquids of max. 100ml per container are to be transported in hand luggage in a bag provided for this purpose. Do not take sharp or pointed objects with you. Liquid medication as well as baby and special foods that you require during a flight can also be carried in large quantities in your hand luggage.
  4. Put electronic devices on the belt separately
Electronic devices such as laptops, mobile phones, tablets or cameras must be removed from your hand luggage during the security check and placed separately in a box provided.
  5.  Follow instructions given by security staff

New stations for pre-sorting hand luggage

From now on, passengers can find out what they are allowed to carry in their hand luggage at our new pre-sorting stations. We provide space to stow their liquids in transparent, resealable bags and to dispose of unauthorized items. This saves travelers time at the checkpoint.
