The 5 most important tips for a relaxed start to your holiday
Well prepared on hot days
We recommend bringing an empty water bottle with you and refilling it free of charge at our water dispensers after the security check.
Our terminals are air-conditioned. To ensure the temperature remains pleasant even on hot summer days, we kindly ask you to keep exterior doors closed whenever possible.
- Arrive at the airport about 2 hours before departure
To ensure a relaxed start to your journey, please allow sufficient time for check-in and security screening and arrive at the airport about 2 hours before departure. Airlines usually open their check-in counters 2–3 hours before departure. After checking in, passengers should proceed promptly to the security checkpoint. - Check in online in advance or the evening before
With some airlines, you can already check in the evening before for flights departing up to 12 p.m. the following day and drop off your luggage. You can find out which airlines offer this service here. In addition, many airlines provide a convenient online check-in via their website or app. After check-in, you will receive a digital boarding pass, which you can either print or simply save on your mobile device. - Use self-service kiosks for baggage and check-in
If you prefer not to check in online, you can print your boarding pass at a check-in kiosk yourself. Baggage can also be dropped off quickly and securely at a total of 30 self-bag-drop machines (10 in Terminal 2 and 20 in Terminal 1) – for this, you must already have your boarding pass. You can find out which airlines offer these self-services here. - Use Slot & Fly and travel with as little hand luggage as possible
Through the online booking portal Slot & Fly, you can quickly and easily reserve a time slot for security screening. Also try to travel with only one piece of hand luggage if possible, and only pack what you absolutely need for the flight—especially electronic devices and liquids. More information can be found here.
