    Waste

In the year 2007, approx 3,000 t of commercial waste were generated on the airport premises. Flughafen Hamburg GmbH is responsible for commissioning qualified service providers to dispose of this waste in an environmentally compatible manner. Needless to say, the objective is to generate as little waste as possible and to keep the amount of non-recyclable residual waste to an absolute minimum.

In the case of airports, the focus tends to be on waste that requires particularly stringent supervision, such as used oil, anti-freezing agents, paint, fluorescent tubes and batteries.
Additional waste, mainly consisting of paper and residual waste, is accumulated in the cabin cleaning process.

The disposal of waste requiring special supervision is supported by the Environment department at all times.

The Waste Officer has also been assigned by the administrative environment department and will be happy to answer any questions.
