Hamburg Airport at a glance

Hamburg Airport welcomes some 12,8 million passengers annually in two state-of-the-art terminals. Business travellers and holiday makers enter their planes via the central Airport Plaza. A sophisticated traffic management system guides cars to the nearby multi-storey car parks and buses and taxis to the terminals.

Level 0

Arrivals level: The airport’s arrivals level reunites passengers with their baggage. After leaving the security controlled area, arriving passengers meet family, friends or business partners waiting for them in the public area. This area is also home to many shops and, in Terminal 2, the car rental agencies.

Level 1

Departures level: Level 1 brings passengers to their departing flights. The Passenger Pier is reached via the central Airport Plaza. The security checkpoints are located in the spacious main hall. And in the Passenger Pier, after clearing security, passengers have the chance to go shopping before reaching their gates to wait for the boarding call.

Level 2

Departures level, waiting area: Level 2 at Hamburg Airport, with a view over the large main halls of the terminals, is home to the food courts. Restaurants, bars and cafés invite passengers to relax and while away the time before boarding. Level 2 in Terminal 1 also contains the Travel Market, with last-minute offers from various travel agencies and tour operators.

Level 4

Departures level, waiting area: The observation decks are to be found in the terminals on Level 4, alongside a wide range of cafés and restaurants. These extremely busy areas are very popular with many visitors and offer an excellent view of the apron and jetbridges; the dream of flying is almost real enough to touch. This is also the best location to enjoy the view over the large main halls of the terminals.

External areas

A well-planned traffic flow system ensures a smooth approach to the terminals and the nearby parking facilities. There is plenty of short and long stay parking available. Short walking distances to the taxi stands and bus stops ease the airport transfer for both arriving and departing passengers.
