The tenants of the new Airport Plaza:Nuance Group opens eleven exquisite shops in German premiere and Valora launches new Print On Demand service in Hamburg

The countdown has begun. On 4 December the new Airport Plaza will officially open its
doors for business. The public open days on 29 and 30 November will give northern
Germans the chance to experience the new building and its diverse range of retail and
food & beverage outlets at first hand. The retail facilities include eleven exquisite shops
operated by the Nuance Group, a world market leader in the travel retail sector, enter-
ing the German market for the first time. The luxurious fashion and accessory range on
offer to travellers will include such brand names as Escada, René Lezard, Bally, Palm-
ers, Paul & Shark and Porsche Design, spread over a total of 960 square metres. Valora
Retail will also launch the "Print On Demand" service onto the German market in its
new 350 square metre “k presse + buch” store. Customers can choose from around 700
international daily newspapers and have the current edition of their favourites printed
for them immediately in newspaper format on special paper – from the Washington
Times to the Bangkok Post and the Sydney Morning Herald. At a press conference at
Hamburg Airport today, Jean-Paul Bonnel, CEO Europe at the Nuance Group, Stephan
Salvisberg, Director of Sales at the Nuance Group Europe, Kaspar Niklaus, CEO Retail
at Valora Retail and Lars Bauer, Managing Director at Valora Retail Germany, presented
their shop concepts for the Airport Plaza.

Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport: “With the Nuance Group and Valora
Retail, we have two successful global players in airport retail on board. I am thrilled
that the opening brings with it two German premieres: the Nuance Group is opening its
first German stores and Valora Retail is offering its practical Print On Demand service to
customers in Germany for the first time. Both companies will make a significant contri-
bution to making Hamburg Airport a marketplace for major brands.”

The Nuance Group celebrates its German premiere at Hamburg Airport
On 26 November, in time for the Airport Plaza opening celebrations, Nuance will open
six shops spread over a total of 555 square metres in the first phase of its German pre-
miere in the Airport Plaza: Temptation – for travellers searching for those special acces-
sories, offering quality Swiss watches, bags, sunglasses and fashion jewellery, with
separate areas for the Swarovski, Thomas Sabo, Guess and cK brands; Paul & Shark –
luxurious maritime fashion from Italy; Lacoste – sporty casual wear in cheerful, colour-
ful designs; Marc O'Polo – quality casual clothing with a “back to nature” aura; and
Porsche Design – luxurious, unembellished accessories for men. The sixth shop will be
located in the generally accessible area of the airport, directly opposite the new S-Bahn
station, and will offer uncomplicated leisurewear from Street One.
In a second phase, Nuance will open a further five stores with a total of 405 square me-
tres: Fashion, with 181 square metres dedicated to the luxury brands Bally, Escada,
René Lazard and MCM, selling clothing, shoes and stylish accessories; dedicated shops
    for the Stefanel and Tommy Hilfiger clothing brands; a Palmers shop for luxury lingerie;
and a Dixons electronics shop, specialising in entertainment electronics and travel ac-
cessories for computers and mobile telephones.

Stephan Salvisberg, Director of Sales for the Nuance Group Europe, is excited to play a
key role in defining the shopping experience in the new Airport Plaza. He explains, “It is
very rare that an airport is so attentive to achieving optimal retail facilities when it ex-
pands its infrastructure. The Airport Plaza will very quickly establish itself as a genuine
shopping destination for travellers. We are delighted to be able to influence the image
of the retail area with our broad range of top brands.”

Valora Retail presents new retail concept in the Airport Plaza
Valora Retail Germany, market leader in the book and newspaper trade at airports and
railway stations, will present a new shopping experience in the Airport Plaza. Upon en-
tering the “media department store” customers will find themselves in a range of sub-
ject worlds, for example aviation, travel and food & beverages. The wide product range
will be complemented by a shop design based on the latest research into shopping be-
haviour and a harmonic, relaxing ambience. And “k presse + buch” in the Airport Plaza
will see the German premiere of Print On Demand in the press and book retail sector.
The latest developments in the field of printing allow customers to take their personal
copy of their favourite newspaper on board, hot off the press in the latest edition.

“With these two firsts, k presse + buch is launching the next dimension of newspaper
and book retailing. As a Hamburg-based company, we are proud of the trust Hamburg
Airport has shown in us, allowing us to go down exciting new paths,” says Lars Bauer,
Managing Director of Valora Retail Deutschland.
